Yesterday was the last day with my sister and her kidlets...we had an awesome two weeks together and we are counting down until my visit to their place in August. Years ago I would have stressed out to have my workout and food routine messed with. Thankfully, I'm much more laid back these days because the chaos is a lot more fun.
No, food choices weren't always stellar and workouts were not scheduled. But we stayed pretty active.
Some highlights:
- the Kid's Spartan
- breaking the rules and having a snuggle nap with my nephew (he needs to fall asleep on his own!)
- Our 2nd annual family camping trip, which was also the first camping experience for the newest 8 month old kidlet
- Swimming...almost every day for the 2nd week. It's funny how less sensitive you are to cold water when you are racing after a 4 year old. I wised up though...the last swim day we made friends with another family who then swam with the 4 year old while I lounged in the shade. (this Auntie-fail is brought to you by the guise of demonstrating strong social skills)
- singing in the car - although I'm not sure if I should be emabarassed for sharing music tastes with a 4 year old, or concerned that she is ahead of her years
- Learning the niece wants to be a dentist. I'm hoping to get reduced dental bills out of this.
- Having a movie date and dinner date with my niece
- Watching my nephew learn to crawl. My sister is going to be busy.
The August visit will be shorter and less busy. I'm sure it will be tons of fun though. The countdown is on!
For now, life is back to "normal". I've gone for one walk today (and hope for another later) and have a healthy day of food planned out.
