I can often find myself in the same boat. One of my co-workers runs a weekend bakery, so Monday mornings often find leftovers in the break room, and it's difficult to restrict yourself when it's just one.
It's part of why I'm trying to cut refined sugar from my diet for now, so that I can break that craving. It won't always work though, so you can look at it in a few different ways.
For me, I often find the whole day shot when I over indulge. Before bed, I'll come back to the forums here and recommit to what I'm trying to achieve. It means starting fresh the next morning.
Alternatively, you can promise you'll spend extra time doing something active to try and compensate. This can get dangerous, though, when you realize you've eaten 1000+ calories in gourmet cupcakes and need to go 10 miles to burn them off.
The last thing I'll try is to "compensate" with vegetables. Low in sugar, and packed with nutrients, eat some extra servings and remember that tomorrow is a new day.
