This hopeful Canadian thinks the weather will eventually improve. Yes, we still have the heat on (turned it off for about 5 seconds before coming to our senses) and it almost snowed last weekend. But maybe by July, the weather will be warm enough that new summer clothes can make a debut.
So, I need to prepare. Last year's clothes definitely won't fit. I was kind of looking forward to shopping, but am very confused. At my heaviest, I was a size 20-22 consistently. No exceptions.
Now that I can shop in "regular" stores, I'm learning that sizes really mean nothing. In one week, I have fit into size 5/6 (twice, woot woot!), 7/8, and 10. And the size 5/6 and 10 were the same type of fit (actually, the 10 was tighter).
Realistically, I would say I'm a size 9. It is more than annoying to have to take 3 different sizes of one garment into the fitting room. The whole thing ends up being an unplanned workout.
The "looking forward" to shopping thing wore off quickly. It is beyond annoying to have to take 3 different sizes of one garment into the fitting room. The whole thing ends up being an unplanned workout.
That said, I did feel awesome to be in a 5/6 and was tempted to leave the tags on so everyone knew. I figured that would be a bit much though and I removed them. Well, at least I thought I did. So, this referee left the house with a nice long strip down the side of my new jeans announcing the size, while also telling the world that I am a space cadet.
