Day 16 of my first ever Dietbet ("Molsinspire's No Excuse November") and I've already lost 3kg and hit my 4% loss goal! There's still a long way to go before I'm happy with my body but this was a great mini milestone to hit that will (hopefully) kickstart me into a healthier lifestyle.
I started Dietbet because I want more than anything to have a healthy BMI and more self confidence. I've been overweight since high school (roughly 10 years). I've always struggled finding the motivation to exercise regularly and eat healthily/cut down on my snacking. You'd think that years of self-hatred would be motivation enough. But apparently it isn't, yet money is. What does that say about me? I'm materialistic? Money obsessed? Maybe. It's hard not to be in the consumerist world we live in today.
No doubt I will find it difficult staying on track over the course of the next month or so; I'm going on a minibreak to Edinburgh on 20 Nov for 3 days, and I've got a resit to take on 29 Nov for my Accountancy course. Then I'm going on holiday again, this time to Budapest, on Dec 13, and then of course it's Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas time, but it really is Motivation's worst nightmare. Last year I lost over a stone during October, and the weight all piled back on in the form of miniature heroes, chocolate oranges, pigs in blankets and roast potaoes. I am DETERMINED not to let that happen this year. As long as I continue to watch my calories, and continue walking 10k steps a day, I'm on track to reaching my ultimate goal weight (58kg) by the end of March 2018.
I'm so looking forward to going shopping and trying on the clothes that look good on the mannequin and seeing that they actually look good on me too! Wearing crop tops, maybe even getting my belly button pierced. Enjoying a day out at the waterpark with my friends. Just generally feeling comfortable rather than ashamed in my own skin.
I realise that blog posts that consist of moaning about one's physical appearance are not particularly deep or entertaining so to anyone still reading, thanks for being interested in my journey and hopefully I will have many more personal victories to share with you in the upcoming months!
