My oldest daughter is in 3rd grade as of this Fall. She begins training on Monday with Girls On The Run. I'm excited for her. She's also doing tumpbling this year. I think both will go a long way to helping her establish healthy views of her body early.
Thing is, she needs a running buddy for the season ending 5K in November...so that's me.
I hate running. Hate it. HATE IT! I do it on the treadmill in a very controlled way post weight lifting. My methods are specific and fully designed to protect my feet and knees while leveraging the previous anaroebic session.
I am not looking forward to having to train for a 5K, especially one in 2 months. I know I can do it...it's not like my 8 year old is going to go very fast...even after training with GotR. However, I'm not particularly excited about pounding the pavement.
(Sprained my foot two weeks ago coaching my boy's soccer team and I'm still feeling that....'course, didn't quit practices or the game on Sat. LOL)
If you'd like to donate to her GotR council you can do so here. They could really use the money to get more urban teams built.
If you feel so inclined to continue the generosity, please consider sponsoring my walk with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Thanks.
