From the years 1999 to 2011 nearly 180,000 men between the ages of 35 and 54 killed themselves. Compare that to less than 24,000 teenagers during the same period, and you see we have a problem given very little attention.
Suicide among middle aged men is real epidemic given very little notice.
Suicide is a Top Ten Killer of men, yet only $21Million was spent by the National Institute of Health on suicide prevention in 2013. The NIH spent $36Million on food allergy research that same year, $408Million on contraception research, and Oh!....a thousand times more (over $2.7BILLION) on researching gender and ethnic "health disparities."
...but the FOURTH LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH in males aged 35-54, suicide, got only $21Million (less if you adjust for age groups.) The National Institute of Health even spent more money on global warming and climate change than they did on suicide prevention.
That's why I'm walking on September 20th. That's why you should sponsor me.
