I have told myself for a really long time (we're talking decades), that I have no self control when it comes to sweets and snacks, but really it was that I just wasn't paying attention. I would let myself eat the whole bag of cookies, or the whole bag of chips and say, man, I shouldn't let myself have those things.
But since I've started tracking my eating, I am finding that I CAN allow those things into my house and into my diet. I tried it first with a family size bag of M&Ms. It said on the package that there were 8 servings in each bag, so I divided the bag into 8 servings. I knew the calories per serving, so when I wanted a serving, I logged it into myfitnesspal and then ate that serving (VERY SLOWLY, so I could enjoy it!). There were a couple of days that I had more than one serving, and that's ok - because I tracked it and kept myself honest about it.
I currently have a container of Coffee ice cream in the freezer. It's been in there for a week now! CRAZY!
