I am finally 100% committed to eating healthy and losing weight AGAIN! This is my fourth (and last) journey in 5 years. This is my story...
In the last five years, I have lost almost 100 lbs on three different occasions and gained it back and a little more. The first time, in 2009, I started Weight Watchers in September with a friend and by April I was down approximately 35 lbs. I felt and looked great! My friend was equally successful and we kept each other in check. But after reaching my goal weight, I fell of the wagon for 2 years. I was focused on other things that prevented me from worrying about myself and I gained all of the weight back.
So in August of 2012 and after a recommendation of another friend, I started a very rapid weight loss program that had me eating 500 calories per day with no exercise. I lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks and felt great, but I knew that this was bad for me. (I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT PROGRAM TO ANYONE). Even though this program said it would change your metabolism forever, IT DID NOT and if it did, I am sure it didn't in a positive way.
Last year, I decided to become healthy again. This time I relied heavily on My Fitness Pal to track my diet and exercise. And I joined DietBet for a month. I once again took off the weight losing 18 lbs from September through December and even won my DietBet that was going on through Thanksgiving! But sadly, I could not keep up the momentum after the holidays.
Ironically, summer is the hardest time for me. I tend to gain weight because of being in a couple golf leagues, I eat out alot and ride in a cart instead of walking. Even though I am staying active, I don't seem to focus on eating healthy and staying fit. Why is it that I cannot focus on more than one thing at a time?! I think that is the issue I have for which I am still trying to find the answer.
So I start this journey with 30 lbs to lose. I was already down a few before I started DietBet last week. But this time I want to keep up the momentum longer than 3 months...so I joined the Transformer as well. I am also 100% tracking on MFP and also trying Chris Powell's carb cycling program so that I can start eliminating unhealthy carbs from my diet. So far, so good. I am now down 10 lbs from where I was 6 weeks ago. But I have 20 more to lose.
I am going to journal here to keep myself in check and to share my story with others that might be struggling to keep the momentum going so that are not always trying to start from Square One.
I am 100% confident I will meet my goals in the short term. The struggle for me is the long term.
