Well the four week challenge was hard with the week away from home.  However, I'm so happy to have a reason to keep trying.  The accountablity that diet bet gives me is the little push I needed.  My doctor will be pleased and maybe will stop reminding me that tomoxifin is an option for eliminating my estrogen.  You see fat makes estrogen (for those who don't know that) and my cancer was estrogen fed, so for me being 20 pounds over wieght puts me at risk since I refused to take the tomoxifin to block estrogen.

In fact ladies if you want to keep your breasts staying at a healthy wieght is a very good idea.  I was 20 or 30 pounds overwieght when I was diagnosed at age 41.  I had already been told even thin I had an unually high estrogen count.  The benifits were soft skin, but I was warned that the risks was a higher than normal risk for breast cancer.  I never thought much about it, but started my mamograms at age 35 just to be safe.  I skipped a couple, so at age 41 I was behind my schedule.  My mom kept urging me to get mine, (she had a different type of cancer at the time), and so I finally made my appointment, and it's a good thing I did.

So it's breast cancer awareness month.  Just know that by paying attention to your weight you are lowering your chances for breast cancer.  However, skinny people get breast cancer too, so if you are high risk or over 40 get your mamogram.  It saved my life, and saved me a lot of treatment.  If I had waited much more I may have had a different outcome.  Yes as you can see from my pictures I lost my breasts.  I tried reconstruction but had too many complications and a few months ago I threw in that towel.  I lost my breasts but I'm alive and well and holding pumkin carving parties for my loved ones and enjoying my grandchildren and my teenager.  ( grandchildren are from my older chlldren not the teen!)

So, that's my little contribution to breast cancer awareness.

Rock on and keep up the good fight,

Tonya
