Thanks that helps a lot. I think you're right instead of focusing on how horrible the things it is I have to talk to kids about I can focus on how important it is that these kids have someone to tell that can help keep them safe. I really appreciate your perspective.

So happy there are people like you. Great job. I would easly go into eating on emotions if I had such a job. I feel too much sometimes and have dificulty handeling it without comforting myself with food.

Lots and lots and lots of water! 10+ glasses... also avoid soda, diet soda, etc. Ugh I feel ya Im going away for the long weekend and a bit nervous myself. I tend to do a lower carb (150g/day) diet so I would stick to eating stuff like eggs, bacon, and the best "wheat" toast I could find ... but keeping the focus on protein/fat. Lunch aiming for a salad with protein and small carb. I'm pretty good after all this time of guessing carbs in things (when necessary) .... Avoid all pasta dishes! Even if you are now low carb - they tend to be enormous and full of calories too. If you have any say in where to go, try places like Chipolte, Panera Bread, Chilis, etc ... they tend to have healthier options. Also if you can look up the nutritional info on line .... often times the restaurant lists it. Avoid fried, battered, pasta, etc. Look for grilled, steamed, etc... Good luck and remember its just one trip .... long term eating you are doing great and will bounce right back!

Why not bring healthy snacks with you? I remember the tables of pastries available when I'd go to group meetings and training sessions and they're so tempting! But maybe if you have some snacks you can avoid that pitfall. I'd also suggest taking a water bottle, you can refill almost anywhere. As for the sushi, I'm a big fan too! Opt for sashimi so you don't have as much rice, low sodium or no soy sauce, try some edamame to help fill you up and I like cucumber salad and seaweed salad.

You've got this! You're already planning ahead!

Tonya- where are your carbs coming from (besides fruit)? I only ask because I eat around 150g of carbs a day, and I try to consume 7 fruits/veggies ... so not a lot comes from bread/pasta. If you are gluten intolerant, I imagine even less (for you) are coming from bread/pasta. I'm not sure which plan you follow, but are you subtracting out fiber? Just trying to help ... I find with myself that I can do lower carb (150g a day) but it has to be spread out evenly (usually 30 for breakfast, and 45 lunch/dinner ... with the extra 30 snacks or overflow) and anytime I have carbs I HAVE to have protein... water (in large quantities) is a must AND I have to move somehow ... with out that magic formula (for me) my scale stays the same. Just 30 minutes of moving, 10 glasses of water, and 150 carbs with protein and I see major loss ... Maybe try adding more water and movement?! Both flush out the "stuff" you are burning

Amen sister on this last peace. :-)
I think your on to something, a slowly sucseeding lifestyle change. Great work. And I to do feel its important to minimize the feeling of making sacrefises combined with doing the right things to make progress. Keep it up, you will have sucess!

Congrats on making good choices and not going overboard. In these situations, you can always ask how they ma j e the food and guesstimate. Also, a steakhouse I usually go with a small steak and steamed vegetables (no butter), and n maybe a sweet potato. That's always a safe bet.
