It always amazes me how many calories restaurants and processed food companies can slip into foods that should be quite innocent. Cocoa powder has almost no calories! I tried a quick experiment in calorie counting:
Tim Horton's (10oz): 240 Calories Total
Packet Mix = 111 Calories
8 oz. Skim Milk = 90 Calories
1 oz. Reddi-Whip Non-Fat = 28 Calories
Total Calories = 229
8 oz Almond Milk: 60 Calories
1 Tbs. Cocoa Powder: 12 Calories
1 Tbs. Granulated Sugar: 46 Calories
1/4 tsp. Vanilla Extract = 3 Calories
1 oz. Reddi-Whip Non-Fat = 28
Total Calories: 149
Also, a lot of the recipes I found online called for 2 tsp of cocoa powder and sugar, which strikes me a weak. I am willing to be that the 'homemade' version comes out decadent!
