So here I am reflecting on the journey as the Holidays wind down. I was doing pretty well and had a great time with family, I worked out every day, I ate pretty moderately and consciously .. .up until yesterday.
Yesterday was our last day in the CO mountains and I overindulged. I got up and worked out but then I let some less healthy old habits visit. We had a family brunch planned. My mother was cooking yummy traditional home country foods including her awesome biscuits (that found their way into Martha Stewart's Everyday Food magazine some years ago). There were the snacks as we traveled back down the mountain and were stuck in a long traffic jam on I-70 while an accident was being cleared (thankully no one was injured). We then had take-out Chinese food and sweet treats on re-entry. I woke up this morning feeling blah and bloated and my mother's scale is now evidencing my bad choices.
Today is a new day!
I'm going to get a strong workout in (maybe 2) and keep the diet light today. The good thing is that now there is less of a slippery slope. I don't have to take the slide all the way down the mountain, I can better carve the path and enjoy the view and make the choice in this moment to do better.
It was fun unveiling the new thinner me for my family. There was lots of surprise, appreciation and I think the changes were adding some inspiration to other family members' resolutions. The new year is ever closer but there is some work yet to be done before this year and the last EDBS Dietbet of the year ends.
Consistency, Consciousness and determined daily effort is key!
As we drove back to the Denver area there was a sliver of a rainbow ahead of us (I caught a bit of it in the photo) and it was a lovely reminder of the promise and possibility ahead - "Eyes on the Real Prize" while letting it reveal itself in the power of healthy choices and action NOW!
So bottom line I gotta keep doing better - and that includes keeping the diet clean and my butt moving!!!!
