This is not my first attempt at weight loss. I've gained and lost over 200 pounds through the years. I've been most successful on a long term basis with reasonable programs, like Body for Life. This time I am simply using MyFitnessPal to track my calories and fat, etc.
I have to lose weight. I had Gestational Diabetes when I was pregnant with my son, Arthur. I am fine now but do not want to be among the many people who later develop Type 2 Diabetes. My endocrinologist told me there is only one way to help prevent this - lose weight.
This isn't the first time a doctor has told me to lose weight by a long shot. But now I have my son to take care of. I have to set a good example for him, and I want to be alive for a long time in order to be there for him. I want to have energy to play with him, to run with him, to teach him sports, everything a good mom should do.
There are other goals I have, but this is by far the most important. I know I can do it - I've done it before. But this time I need to make it stick. i know there is a healthier person inside of me underneath all this extra weight.
