Your point about health and wishing one could make a change before they have a problem is a good one. A brother of mine, only 43 years old, recently had a heart attack. He wasn't severely obese or anything - mostly the sense is that its genetic. But I'm sure now he wishes he was more active and fit - perhaps it could have been avoided. Its a wake-up call for me. His heart was quite damaged, and now the rest of his life will be a lot less active, and he'll need a lot of medication, etc. The takeaway for me is that I definitely need to take care of myself, and prevent a similar situation happening to me. I am working very hard to build a foundation for my future, and I want to have a nice enjoyable retirement someday, while still having my health. Now is the time to fix health problems - BEFORE they happen.

Shame, that's terrible to hear that his heart is quite damaged. I imagine it was a shock and scary. We have diabetes and osteoporosis in our family. My sister was on autopilot for a very long time. She finally got her wake up call with being very close to diabetic. She started losing weight only to realize her skin had been stretched out for so long the weight loss was starting to cause major issues not to mention it was visually not appealing for her and skin removal surgery is not really an option because of cost. So she's stuck midway. I don't want to eventually be in that place either.
