Yesterday, I took my 5 year old downhill skiing. It was about the 3rd or 4th time to the hill this year...I'm trying to get her to overcome hear fears and really get comfortable on skis. She is a bit of a scardy cat about most new things...I was as a child also I'm told, so its probably my fault! :)
Anyways, the hill is about an hour away. We stuck to about 3 hours on the kiddy hill, but it was so SO SO great to watch her actually evolve into become a "skiier". She got it, yesterday...for the first time. She had been kind of fumbling around with skiing during previous trips, but yesterday - she got it. At the end of the day, she was pretty comfortable getting down the hill, as long as I was nearby. I got a great workout out of the deal too, so for me it was good. Maybe more important is making memories with her (as a dietbet friend here reminded me), and giving her a skill she can use into her future. So cool!
Perhaps thats the best form of exercise there is... Its not always easy finding effective ways to get exercise for myself, and also enjoy my role as father, but yesterday was great. Hopefully we'll go again next weekend! I guess thats the definition people talk about when they say turning weightloss into a lifestyle... I could get into this. :)
Happy Monday All!
