Well, here goes the 'ol diet bet thing. I had a friend talking to me about them last year, but I wasn't ready. I was significantly overweight - to the tune of OVER 100 pounds.
Then I joined a weight loss competition at my local rec center. Between the beginning of January and the end of June I lost over 80 pounds. I won the competition. Life is fantastic!
Then July happens.
Competition done: check
Family vacation: check
Visitors after the vacation: check
More illness in the family: check
The upshot of all of this is that I have already gained back some of the weight. Not a significant portion, mind you. But enough that it worries me how fast it can come back.
I have a vacation in December - taking off with my wife to Hawaii! I want to be at my goal weight when we get there. The only way this happens is if I nip things in the bud, right now.
That is where DietBet comes in. I am hoping to un-do in this month what I did in the previous month. If I do that, I should be just one more diet bet away from being quite near my goal. Maybe two - we'll see how things go.
Either way I'm back on the food wagon, and with a 10K tomorrow morning, I'm back into exercise.
