Today I chose to eat a donut. And I don't regret it!
My son brought home a box of donuts leftover from fellowship hour at church today. They were very fresh and very inviting. I looked up the WW Smartpoints for a donut and decided to include one in my day. I can do that!
I don't consider this a "cheat" day, meal, treat or what have you. I'm not a fan of that type of thinking - cheat foods. Cheating implies doing something naughty or not allowed. This is a lifestyle. I want to make changes that will last and therefore I want to do it in a way that is liveable. Having a donut (or a brownie, or a bit of cake or...) every so often is livable. Telling me that certain foods are not allowed is just going to leave the idea of that item gnawing at the back of my mind until I just MUST give in. That's what usually leads to over indulgence. If I incorporate a treat now and then, though, I am much more likely to stay on track.
The key is moderation and balance. I know that I can't splurge on the treats often. I also know that I need to blance my day and make sure the rest of the day is wholesome and healthy. However, I also kow that if I really must have something, I can fit it in and it won't derail my positive efforts. It's not cheating. It's living.
I also had a glass of wine today...
