One day. One day of clean eating and drinking lots of water showed over 2lbs lost on my scale. It's exciting right?
A 2 pound difference on the scale could be attributed to activity or food, but it could also be hormonal fluctuations or any number of weird bodily activities. DON'T GET ON THE SCALE EXPECTING A 2LB DROP EVERY DAY! There are 3500 calories in every pound of fat. If you consumed 1500 calories yesterday, and your basal metabolic rate is 2200 calories, you only had a 700 calorie deficit. (x7 = 4900cals/week = a 1.5lbs loss/week).
Huge drops in weight at the beginning of dieting can usually be attributed to water weight. (Healthy home cooking or smarter dining out options = less sodium consumed = more urinating... probably. I'm not a dietician or scientist, btw.)
My point is this: Make smart decisions, and you will see differences in yourself: changes in the composition of your body, more energy, and possibly a more positive attitude... And of course, with the goal of this contest in mind, a difference in the scale.
DietBet only asks for you to officially weigh in at the most once a week, since point-in-time checks weekly tend to be more accurate than the frequently-fluctuating, once-daily assessments.
As for my plan for today:
- I'm drinking water.
- I planned out my meals.
- I have Zumba after work.
Yes, I will probably weigh myself again tonight because I am neurotic, but I won't be upset if there's not another 2lb. drop or no drop at all. Tomorrow is a new day to make another healthy goal/commitment.
Goal for 1/15/15: Logging food on MyFitnessPal. (I was able to do this all day 1/14, so I'm trying again today.)
