I love this! I just discovered DietBet from Ali Vincent and I am ready to go! What a cool idea. I am very motivated by goals and competition...and the possibility of winning $ is icing on the cake. (or should I say avocado on the salad)
I've had a weight problem for as long as I can remember. For the first part of my life, it was an imaginary weight problem. I thought I was fat at 5'5" and 125 pounds. I never felt comfortable in my own skin. I would do anything to lose weight...I mean anything! You name. I tried it. Starvation, Weight Watchers, PhenFen, liquid shake diets, Lindora, Jenny Craig...to name a few.
I would always lose weight and that gave me a high...it made me feel worthy. But the weight loss & lifestyle was not sustainable and eventually I would gain all of the weight back...and then some. I felt like a failure. A loser. Why couldn't I do this? It seemed so simple. I would throw my hands in the air in defeat, "Well, I failed. I might as well do and eat what I want." And I did. Until I hated myself enough to start the cycle over again. After countless rounds of this...I had created the weight problem that I imagined as a young woman.
It was a horrible, self-loathing roller coaster and I needed to get the hell off!
Ironcially enough, it was the end of my 17 year marriage that started the beginning of my new, healthy life path. I learned to love myself...no matter what size I was. I was good enough and worthy of love just the way I was. It was only then that I could honestly look at my physical body and say, "I love you enough to take care of you.". I was the happiest I had ever been...and I was the heaviest too. I was 227 pounds and my body was crying out for me to do something. I had problems with my knee and a scary episode with my back that left me in bed for a week. Unable to move without excruciating pain, I knew something needed to change...and change for good.
I did the heart work...and now I had to do the HARD WORK to get my body healthy again.
Last year, I lost 40 pounds through healthy eating & a new active lifestyle. I gained some of the weight back over the holidays and was starting to go back to my old way of thinking but instead, I just kept going. I'm still on the path...making healthier choices every day. I'm excited to be here and start this new challenge with all of you!
