Good for you for attempting a holistic approach!! Have you tried probiotics at all? Don't know how much affect they would have on psoriasis, but they help to get your body processing all the food we eat naturally, and avoiding those inflammatory triggers may assist a little? I'm a huge holistic fan - so many of our human ailments begin in our gut!! :) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/21/inflammatory-foods-worst-inflammation_n_2838643.html

You have probably looked into this/figured it out, but sometimes Candida can be a trigger for autoimmune diseases - have you noticed whether you do better on or off of it? I am envious of your garden & chickens - next summer I hope to start my own garden out back, aside from my measly patio garden of herbs & lettuce I have going now. Good luck to you in treating your back with something other than cortisone - I had that for my hip/bursitis a few years ago and have a weakened tendon now because of it! :( I'll find you on mfp here soon!

Hi, I believe I feel better on an anti Candida routine. But mostly because after a couple of weeks it stops cravings for sweets, bread, etc. It did not help the psoriasis or my allergies. I am 62, & I didn't have these problems as a young person. My spinal problems started 9 years ago (surgery 7 years ago). Allergies hit at about age 50. Anxiety (a driving phobia) stated in my late 20s.(Possibly Candida-definitely hereditary!) However, I believe good nutrition is critical for overall health. My mom didn't start concentrating on nutrition until I was 10. Apparently, my spinal issues may have come from her nutritional deficiencies when she was pregnant with me. Not blaming her, her mom was mentally ill! And yes, cortisone....wouldn't give it to my dog, but I took it!

Congrats on your tremendous weight loss! You have really worked hard. You're down 8.3 lbs and currently only in ONE Diet Bet??? I always play in the maximum number of games each time. If you're going to work so hard and release your unwanted pounds, you might as well maximize your winnings.

I'd love to you have you in my new Diet Bet, "It's No Sin, 2 Be Thin," which starts on Feb. 10. I love your energy and enthusiasm. You are definitely committed to your goals - that's the type of person who plays in my Diet Bets.

I've done and won 25 Diet Bets and am over $1500 richer. I started at 219.8 lbs and now am at 143 lbs. I'm an Assistant Diet Bet Coach and have hosted 5 Diet Bet Games. Our group is very motivated. Many are also playing in the 6 month Transformer games as well. Here's the link to check it out. Hope to have you with us. http://diet.bt/1gmQPob

Hey, I see your name on here is RedRocksHiker. Do you live in Las Vegas & hike Red Rock? It is an awesome place to hike! Now that I think about it, there's probably more than one Red Rock hiking area in the country! LOL

Hi Holly, No, we live in Kanab, Ut. That's about 3 hours from Vegas. We are an hour from Zion, a little farther to the North Rim and Bryce; an hour to Lake Powell. Great area to get out & move. Are you in the Vegas area? FYI, I can post pictures, but my system won't allow me to post anything on my profile picture spot. Is there a secret?
