Thats a good idea to eat it off slowly, healthy portions. Another option would be to give some of it away to coworkers or friends. I am a chocolate addict, I love love chocolate but I have decided to stay off milk chocolate and only eat dark chocolates (which do not taste that great but at least its healthier and its still chocolate). Good luck on this journey and remember we are taking it one day at a time. :)
