Karen - I bought a kayak last fall - but couldn't use it because I had just gone through a double lung transplant. But my intention was to get it and spend my winter getting ready to use it by working on my upper body - which was soooo weak and recovering. I went for the first time last month with a friend. My husband finally tried it - and I know if I wanted to do more I needed to get his interest....thus...I signed up for a group paddle trip (knowing if I had to go by myself there would be people there to help me get in and out.) Fortunately I convinced hubby we needed the one on sale and voila - we had a nice trip. I am not even sore today...except for the mid lower back where the seat dug in a bit. So...set those goals and reach for them and you can do it! Just gotta believe and jump in with all you can. Good luck!

I grew up canoeing and kayaking but over the past several years have not been able to do so. Hearing your story is very inspirational.
