In 2013, I found that I was an emotional eater for decades. This was what sabotaged my countless attempts at weight loss, including losing my first 8 DietBets. I was trying to find happiness at the bottom of a potato chip bag every night and of course, I didn't find it. Getting out of the rut of emotional eating requires de-programming one's habits, eating only when hungry and never any time else. In my own experience, this transformation happens gradually and will not happen overnight. Stick with it and eventually the eating habits will eventually reset itself.
