If you are like me (and most of the United States I suspect) in the evenings, after dinner, you will sit in front of the tv, doing nothing, watching show after show. If this is you, then I have a suggestion to help you reach your goal a little faster. Whenever a commercial comes on, get up and do an exercise.
When I was a kid, commercials were only a minute long, and there was only one. But these days there seem to be 3 or 4 sponsors of minute long commercials for every show! Try doing some quick HIIT routines.
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout is a method where you do short bursts of high energy activity. Maybe try doing a couple of rounds of 20seconds of Jumping Jacks, then 10 seconds of rest. You can repeat or put together a group of 3 or 4 exercises.
I found online the Cannon Beach HIIT Cardio Workout - 3 Minute HIIT Routine where there is 8 exercises and they ask you to do 10 repetitions of each. This is suppose to take just 3 minutes. https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/cannon-beach-hiit-cardio-workout-3-minute-hiit-routine
You can find some HIIT routines on youtube if you want the general idea of what a HIIT workout is and there are free phone apps to download that will allow you to set the time for a set and a rest if you choose to do this.
You could just decide that each time a commercial comes on you are going to get up and walk around the room or house until the show comes back on. Whether you decide to just walk, do one exercise repeatedly for the entire commercial break or create a HIIT workout to do, the tip is to get up and move move move during that commercial break.
In fact, lets stop calling it a commercial break and call it an exercise break! Maybe it’s the winners break! You find the name and get up and move on the next commercial!
