I know what you are thinking: “I want to sleep in!” and “I am tired!”

I suggest to you that you have the rest of your life to sleep in. You have made yourself a commitment to spend the next amount of days (not to me and not to your game mates, but to yourself) to getting healthier and losing 4% of weight.

“But why do I have to get up early?” and “Tomorrow is a weekend!!!” and “I get up early all week for work, I want to sleep in on the weekends!”

Well, ME TOO! But…. (and isn’t there always a big butt!) If you make an appointment with yourself to get up 30min early, have something lite, like a banana or yogurt, then do 30min of exercise, whether it’s xbox sports or dvd or a long walk, you will get more done that day than on days you don’t.

And then there is this article that says morning workouts burn 20% more calories and 50% more fat than evening workouts! SOLD! I don’t know about you, but that alone is worth setting the alarm on Saturday! (uhm early would mean that I usually set it and I don’t … ) http://www.mensfitness.com/weight-loss/burn-fat-fast/morning-workouts-burn-more-fat-and-promote-weight-loss

Now, I don’t really follow Dr. Oz, but I do think his heart is in the right place. That is, first try to be healthy. There is a sentence in this article that hit home for me. I guess it stands out because I often suffer from the inability to fall asleep at night. Ok, the last few nights since the conference I have been sleeping like a baby, but usually I have a hard time falling asleep. OH what did it say?

Participants worked out at three different times: 7 a.m., 1 p.m. or 7 p.m. Turns out, those who hit the treadmill at 7 a.m. slept longer and had deeper sleep cycles than those who exercised at other points in the day. In fact, the morning crowd spent up to 75% more time in the reparative “deep sleep” stage at night.

Now on page 3 of the Oz article, it does say that it’s a toss up between morning and evening exercise for weight loss. I suspect it boils down to, the exercise you WILL DO is the best exercise for you. However, that goes back to my point of, DO IT FIRST THING IN THEM MORNING and then its done. And who knows, maybe you will even feel like a second round of exercise, come evening! (http://www.doctoroz.com/article/what-s-best-time-exercise)

11 days left for me to lose 2 pounds!

How about you? Are you willing to get up early for 10 more days if it means making YOUR goal?
