Drive your car around the block, down the street, around the neighborhood. Drive your car --- and set the trip odometer each time!
One of the first things I do when I move into a new home is to drive around the block, measuring from my driveway to back to my driveway. Because I do this, I know that it is exactly ½ mile around my block. It’s also ½ mile to the front of my neighborhood! We have two entrances and guess what? I am smack dab in the middle! So I walk to one entrance and then back to my drive way = 1 mile. I walk to the other entrance and back to my driveway = 1mile.
What if I want a 5k practice (which I should be doing every morning and night) ? Since a 5k is basically a 3 mile length, I can walk around my block then to the front then back and then around my block and then to the other front and back and that is 3 miles!!!
Oh and it’s 2.5 miles from my driveway to the TCBY! Thankfully it’s uphill almost the entire way and I am just too pooped for ice cream by the time I get there so….. YEAH! Ice water please!
Now.. if you don’t know how far it is around your block or around your neighborhood, drive your car! (then walk it!)
