Why do I need to make a SMART goal? Because my last dietbets games ended on May 20th. Today, 7 days later, I am UP two pounds! WHAT? What happened?  I have already gained 2 pounds!!!

I will tell you what happened. I had a week with NO PLAN!  My plan was to not be on a dietbet for 11 or 12 days.  I was just going to 'maintain' but that's not a plan. And Zig Ziglar said, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."  I need a goal and plan. 

My goal is to be 10 pounds lighter on June 30th than I ended my last dietbet at. (ended: 193.5/goal: 183.5)

My subgoals are to lose 1.5 inches from my waist and post a daily 1minute or more youtube video on my day.

My plan is to maintain my eating plan of 1000 calories on sitting, inactive days and up to 1500 calories on active days of planned exercise classes. (Walking 10,000 steps does not count as active to me.)

The math is, if I start today, before my dietbet start, I will need to lose 12 pounds in 34 days.  Now, 12 pounds is equal to 42,000 calories.  If I divide 34 days into that, then I need to 'burn' and extra 1235 calories a day! WHAT? I didn't expect that! <I am just typing this off the top of my head> --- ok deep breath --- how am I going to do that?

First what calories do I need to have to maintain my weight at a seditary lifestyle? According to LiveStrong website I need 13 calories per pound to maintain my weight. That is about 2535. ---awesome!--- that means if I subtract my 'burn' calories (1235) from my maintainence calories (2535) then I am left with 1300 calories!

I am also going to try to drink half my weight plus (up to my body weight) of water daily, for two reasons. One reason is because I have heard over and over and over again, that drinking that much water aids in weight loss.  The second reason is because I just turned <drumroll> 58 years old and things are sagging! I read somewhere that if you drank that much water, it plumps your skin and fills in the wrinkles. (YEAH! I can do that!)

And finally, I have a subgoal of writing a poem a day in reflection of my weightloss journey.  Yes, I write poetry. Mostly fun and sappy stuff, but I enjoy it.  Search me out on Amazon!
