I was just sitting here thinking, I need to get up off this computer and walk WALK WWALKK!!! (as my scale went up 2 pounds after Memorial day and hasn't come down since!) and then I saw it - STEPBET!!!
Ok I don't know about you, but, sitting and complaining is way more comfortable than getting up, putting on shoes, putting in a DVD or heaven forbid, going outside and actually getting some vitamin D by walking, but I know when I do it, I feel better and the scale rewards me with some downward movement. Still, here I am at the computer typing instead of moving.
Where did I see this new possible game, STEPBET? Was it on the first screen? Was it when I looked for a new game? Was it in an email? Well, too late, for them, because I live the old saying: "Tell Louise, Tell the World!" ... (note, I actually can keep a secret if my country's safty depends on it! in my previous life I had a secret clearance - just saying.... but the juicy stuff that I think is fun and helps people... I just have to share!!!)
So what is STEPBET?
I don't know. But i speculate that it's going to be much like Dietbet. You probably have to log in each day or perhaps the programers at WayBetter will write an smart phone app that will connect to smart pedometers such as FitBit. I would guess that just like to 'play' Dietbet you must own a digital scale, to play StepBet I would imagine you would have to own a digital pedometer or one that records steps into an app.
When will the game actually be available for everyone? I don't have a clue. I just saw the link and I signed up! http://www.stepbet.com/ I would imagine when they have a beta app and enough people willing to get it a go, they will start the game. I hope I am in the first selection! (mention my blog in your response! it won't get you anything but they will know better than to tell me any secrets! haha)
Seriously, I need to get off the computer - DAILY - and walk!
Did you know, mathmetically speaking, if you know your base number of steps (the steps you get on average when you are not trying to walk 10k steps - you are just 'living') and my base steps is around 2500 steps.
The step math is that you burn approximately 500 calories per 10,000 steps and one pound is worth 3500 calories (or 7 days of 500 calories) so mathmaticlly speaking if I walk 12,500 steps a day and do not change my eating habits at all, I should burn 1 pound a week.
Where is this STEPBET challenge because I already know I will stick with my diet - through family dessert sharing nights, through holiday gatherings and business meal meetings --> if money is on the line!
Now offer to pay me or take away my cash if I just get up - off this darn computer - put on my shoes - and WALK MY @$$ off... literally I hope! haha
Have a good day - make a S.M.A.R.T. goal - like walk 12,500 steps a day for 28 days straight!
Sincerely,
Louise Nottingham, Writer, Poet, Dieter! ;-)
