I'm actually going to try to write a short blog post most days, to try to keep myself focussed. And so anyone who wants to see how someone else is getting on can! Apart from the fact I'm away this weekend so may not manage it then.
I went to the gym at lunchtime for the first time in a couple of weeks (go me!). I went on the rowing machine and then some of the resistance/weights machines. To finish, I was doing the shoulder press (which is where you push upwards), something I always seem to be weaker at than the other weights machines.
So I was on the shoulder press using a 14kg weight, which I don't find easy but I can do for the first set of repetitions and then after that it starts to get more difficult quite quickly. As I was struggling through my second set of repetitions, it suddenly occurred to me that 14kg is 30lbs, which isn't even as much weight as I need to lose overall to get back to the weight I always used to be (I need to lose 40lbs for that, although 'only' 20lbs to win this). 30lbs is quite heavy to lift!
So my motivation today is coming from: given how difficult I find 30lbs to lift as a weight, I am imagining how much better I will feel if I'm not trying to carry it around attached to my body!
