As the days get shorter and the Supermoon Eclipse came and went occluded by 98% overcast skies, I am figuring that I have picked the low-hanging fruit of DietBet-Land. I have met my goals, been able to stop drinking calories (over the past few years I could finish 2L of Pepsi a day without thinking about it), and increased by walking to 15-20K steps logged by my Fitbit. And while I am so pleased with my progress in DB, and so excited and feeling the benefits of dropping almost 15 pounds, I am also coming to realize that as the leaves start to change, the opportunities for hiking in the Sun and losing weight in the warmth of August will have to cede to different modes of eating, exercise, and emotions as the days get shorter.

So, I have been able to play disc golf more--basically, and excuse to walk for a few miles and pick up plastic--but the biggest difficulty will be eating wisely as it gets cooler outside. So far, I have not had to exercise anything beyond disc golf, walking the dog, hiking, or getting on the treadmil. I may have to enter the unknown kingdom of weight training eventually, to keep up with DietBet goals.

I have never been one for weight training, but we have a nice spot in the basement where we can put down some foam mats and use bodyweight exercises or some basic weights. Finding the time may mean doing workouts in the morning or night so that sunlight would not be a factor.

I would love to just keep doing what I'm doing and playing disc golf more, but autumn brings winds of change.
