Fantastic... I just calculated by BMI. It's 32. I am obese. Isn't that wonderful?! Ugh... I am aware BMI is very strict and leaves no room for curves. And by curves, I do mean, curves, not fat. I am a hispanic young woman who wants to have a nice figure. But, first, I have to lose 50 pounds. Gosh... I can't believe it. Fifty pounds. Does anyone else need to lose an incredible amount of weight?

Sign in to CommentI have a crazy high BMI. My BMI is a 40! If that helps you I am considered "majorly obese." I cant let that number stop me though I have always known my weight. I have always knows I was way bigger than I should have been but I didn't let that affect my day my mood or how I ate. I decided I wont let this number defer me from my goal. I will cut my BMI in half or die trying.
When I started my diet journey, my BMI was 33.8. I've lost 51 lbs so far, and I think I have about 15-20 more to go. When I first did the calculations, I was super shocked that I was considered obese! I mean, I knew I had to lose some pounds, but I always thought I was still cute! Something about the label "obese" made my head spin. So I know I'm making this sound easier than it is...but my advice is to try not to overthink this. When I started calculating that it was going to take me X many months of restriction to get to a healthy weight, I felt like this overwhelming cloud was looming over my head. Celebrate the little wins. It'll make all this time you're working pass a lot faster. That's something I wish I had started doing earlier. I was always waiting to celebrate "reaching my goal weight" that I never gave myself credit for hitting those milestones in between.
Woohoo! Congrats on your loss! Great job! I'm about to weigh too in about 15 min. Excited, but nervous!

I have lost 50 and still have about 20 to go. It's overwhelming when you first start. But for me, every time I lost a couple of pounds it was exciting because it was the first time I had weighed that little in a long time. You can do it!! One healthy choice at a time! :-)
I've lost 90lbs and have 35 more to go. my BMI is 27 now, but was 35 when I started losing. it takes determination, but it's so rewarding and awesome when you see the scale drop. Hang in there! You can do it!
I do. I've lost 42 lbs so far and still have at least 40 to go so I know how overwhelming it can seem. I try to just focus on the next 5 lbs...eating healthy and staying active so I can get under the next notch on the scale. And then when I do, taking a moment to be proud of myself before moving the goal post a little further.
