My game "Get Lean in 2016 with Chris n Heidi Powell" just ended, and the message feed is FULL of complaints about the payout. These people are looking at dietbet completely the wrong way. The money you put down is a bet on yourself. If you don't drop the pounds, you lose the cash. Yes, it's a lot of fun to get a big payout from a bet, but it's also a little dispiriting because that means that a larger number of the group who you've been supporting and gaining motivation from did not meet their goals. A smaller payout means more winning! How great!
The real winnings here are:
- That you lost at least 4% of your weight in a month (seriously, that's awesome!)
- That you stuck to a goal for the entirety of January (most resolutions don't even make it that long)
- That you supported and inspired others in this bet or vice versa
- That you likely learned something new about yourself, what's you're capable of, and what motivates you for the future
So you "only" netted $8? Be proud of the group! Together we lost enough weight, and so *few* people failed to meet their goals, that we profited by just $8. That's pretty great.
Thank you, Heidi and Chris, for motivating this group to do so well in this game! Congratulations to all the participants, you worked hard, and you gained non-scale victories, which are worth more than a monetary sum anyday.
