Great read!I, too, try to find ways to celebrate my small successes on the road to reaching long-term goals (new workout clothes, a pedicure, etc.). Tracking is easy for me because I can quantify my progress through my running app. You need to figure out what "progress" means to you, in order to know how to measure it.
