Current 2014

I'm excited to start this challenge.  July 23rd marks the 7th anniversary of my true weight loss journey.  I've struggled my whole life with being overweight, but in 2007 I discovered a different way of eating that helped me lose 50# in 5 months.  Basically I lowered my carb intake, increasing my protien and veggies.  This has worked well for me.  After some time I joined a gym, worked with a trainer and all in all lost a total of 110#.  I have regained about 25# and have been fluctuating between 168-175#.  My top weight from about 13 years ago was around 260# (that's when I stopped weighing myself).  I would love to get back to 150# and maintain that weight IF my body fat % is around 25%.  I'm not so concerned with the scale number as much as I am the body fat.

I've been stuck for a while, playing with behaving and then being lax.  Mostly in regard to eating.  I stay on plan for a while, eating clean, with good portion control, making progress toward lower body fat and feeling better.  Then "life" happens and the choices I make are not conducive to reaching my goals.  Food tends to my go-to when I'm stressed or upset.  While this behavior hasn't really changed in 7 years, my choices have improved.  Instead of 8 ounces of M&Ms, I now opt for some fruit or a low carb/low cal crunch food.

Exericse has gotten much better - it should be - I'm a personal trainer now after all!!! I've been a caregiver most of my adult life - family, nursing career and now personal trainer -  I tend to put other's needs before myself and will often find reasons/excuses that I "don't have time" to get my work outs in.  That behavior has gotten better.  I'm scheduling "my" time into my daily schedule.

Let's see what I can do!  Progress pix....2009-10......   last pic late '90's, early 2000's
