It's possible that one can get too carried away with success. I thought I was pretty special there for a while, posting pictures of myself in clothing I hadn't worn in years, with a winning streak of about 7 bets in a row. I'm down about 30 pounds since January and I think i got complacent. I figured one way or another I would always win my bet. And this last go-around (Peaker's Midsummer Diet's Dream) I did NOT win.
Was that disappointing for me? You're damn right. But admittedly it's doing me no good to feel sorry for myself. That's just an excuse to go back to old habits. And I've already been doing enough of that as it is! Well that all stops now. Enough screwing around, McPeak. Or, as a former student of mine at Webster University used to say...."NO EXCUSES. JUST RESULTS."
"I had a hard day today." Okay, let's get fro-yo.
"I'm tired this morning." It's okay, skip your workout.
"I don't have much time to eat so I'll just grab a burger." Sounds good, there's a place across the street.
"Ugh, I made a bad choice and now I have to track it on My Fitness Pal." No you don't. No one will know.
Has anyone else ever said those things and then justified them with excuses? I seem to be doing that all the time now. Granted, I still can wear those dresses and capris that I hadn't worn in years...and I still am more fit than ever...but one justified excuse is enough to put me right back where I started - unhealthy and making bad choices. This stops now.
"I had a hard day today." Take a walk around the block or something. Have you picked up your knitting lately?
"I'm tired this morning." You will feel infinitely better if you get some exercise before you go to work!
"I don't have much time to eat..." If you plan your meals ahead of time you won't have this problem again.
"Ugh, I made a bad choice and now I have to track it on My Fitness Pal." Well, track it and don't eat that again. Learn from your mistakes!
I'm changing my attitude now. And moving forward. No more Diet Bet losses for me. I have a goal and I'm going to make it. "NO EXCUSES, JUST RESULTS."
