I hear ya! I remember that rule from yoga class: Stay on your own mat. I take that to mean that we should concentrate on what *we* are doing and not compare ourselves to others.
However, when I get on the elliptical, I cannot help but notice the middle age women who set the intensity to 20 (max) and turn on the TV or gab with friends while hardly breaking a sweat. I know that I am not perfect, but I feel so self-righteous when I set the intensity just high enough to sweat and I concentrate on what I am doing. I am dripping by the end of 30 minutes. I am amazed that ANYone can stay on that thing for an hour without keeling over.
What I mean to say is that I often find myself taking an interest in what others are doing even though it is absolutely none of my business.
