My motivations for my health and weight loss goals are, at core, always the same: to get to a normal weight and be really healthy for the first time ever. That said, the "minor motivations" I've used to keep going in my fitness journey have altered a bit over time. Usually they are weight or clothing size goals: get below 200 pounds, be able to wear the size 16 slacks tucked away in my closet, and so on.
My current minor motivators are money and the calendar. :) Both stem from the same event: my son is getting married on Jun 6, 2015.
DietBet is definitely helping with the money side of the equation. I'm in 3 concurrent 6-month games: one is May - Nov, one is Jul - Dec, and one is Sep - Mar. Chances are I will join a 4th one after the May - Nov one ends. My goal is to keep my winnings going until all the games are over, then cash out and use the money to pay for my mother of the groom dress. :)
The calendar as motivator? I want to be at my goal weight by the wedding. Actually, I want to hit goal weight by April or so, which will give me plenty of time to get my dress and have it altered as needed.
I can do it. I have to lose about 1.2 pound per week, more or less.
