OK, some of my friends would argue with my title statement. :) However, in one specific measurement, I am, indeed, at long last normal: body mass index (BMI).
This has been a HUGE goal for me in my weight-loss journey. In May 2013, I weighed 280 pounds, putting my BMI at 46.6. Today when I got on my scale, I weighed 148.8, putting my BMI at 24.8, just inside the high end of the "normal" range of 18.5 to 24.9. Woop woop, y'all!!!
I have a bit more I'd like to lose:
--- I'd really like to reach 140 so I can say I've lost 50% of my body weight. I'm only 8.8 pounds from that goal.
--- My stretch goal is 135, because that would place me just inside the lower end of the normal BMI range (18.5 to 22.9). I'm only 13.8 pounds from that goal, but honestly I don't know if I can quite achieve that. More to the point, I'm sure I can get there, I just don't know if it's a realistic weight that I could maintain.
I'm going to stay my present weight-loss course until May 22, which is the date I started 2 years ago. I've decided that wherever I am by that date is where my body wants to be. After that I'll move into maintenance mode to keep my new weight long term. There is NO WAY I'm putting that poundage back on my body, and I know it will take attention and vigilance.
This will all culminate in my son's wedding on June 6. I go dress shopping on Saturday, and I have an amazing gown in mind. I can't wait to try it on, and I can't wait to show it off at the wedding! :)
