Hahaha....carbs were really the game changer for me, once I nearly gave them up 3ish years ago, I started seeing changes. Most of the foods were easy to cut out--as they were "extras" for a meal, or substitute with something healthier. I still love carbs, but a small percentage of my food consumption is carbs. Journaling your food is excellent...when I took a good, honest look at what I was eating--it wasn't really a mystery how the pounds kept packing on. Oy !! Good luck with the "carb cleanse"--you can do it, and it will pay off big time !!
