Let's start this out by saying I knew ahead of time that yesterday would be a cheat day. It's a happy annual tradition that involves pumpkin carving, homemade pumpkin pie, Nightmare before Christmas and one of my oldest friends who I rarely get to see anymore. So I knew from the get go that I was going to have some unhealthy eating going on and I was okay with that. Part of figuring out a healthy lifestle for me is figuring out how to live and eat healthy 95% of the time so that i can enjoy the 5% of the time that involves the not so healthy choices. However, my problem with food is in my overconsumption and binge eating and that is not healthy even for the 5%. And I may have swung dangerously towards the darkside last night with my food and beverage choices.
Homemade pretzels, pumpkin pie, cookie dough, hard cider with fireball... more hard cider with fireball. Oh man, it was definitely not my finest moment health wise. But I won't lie I had a great time with my buddy who I see very seldom and I carved a kick butt pumpkin so I will survive and just have to get back on track today and make up for what turned into my very large indulgence night.
Luckily for me I live a pretty quiet unsocial life most days so I don't run into a tone of temptation nights like these ones. Usually getting me to go is like pulling teeth and I probably only drink once or twice a year so I'm not worried that this will be a problem over the course of the month but wish I woulda had a little more self-control.
On a positive I did make sure I hit my 10k steps. And my knee is feeling absolutely wonderful so I think I'm going to start try to work in a lot more cycling and maybe shoot for 12k-15k a couple days a week.
I came up with a few hard rules I want to stick to over the Jillian challenge.
- Water, water, water. (128oz a day/ 4 Nalgenes worth)
- 10k steps a day
- Personal Trainer Food only (with the exception of 300 cal worth of other snack food)
- No Free Snacks from the Work Cabinet (It's the first step to binge eating rest of the day)
- No more cheat days :)
