I read a free pdf from The People's Chemist today titled "The 3-Step Sugar Detox That Saved My Life" and found the following quote inspirational in my sugar free quest:
"Once You divorce yourself from this granular evil, your life and hormones will change for the better. It'll be like upgrading cars from a Chevy Cruz to an Audi A-Whatever. You'll be amazed at how you will look and feel. Vibrant health is just around the corner."
Made it through the day with just a few "sweet snacks" of a few carrot sticks, one banana in a protein smoothie, and a few raisons with mixed raw nuts. The biggest change I'm noticing is that when I do get hungry, it's real hunger, not just the feeling like I need to eat to maintain energy or feel better. My tummy actually starts to growl because it really is empty. Before, I was always "feeling hungry" but I ate so often--every time the sugar low set in, I craved something more--that I rarely got to the point that I'd actually hear my tummy rumble. And, I don't feel like it's an emergency to get food in me when I am hungry, it's more like a little notice from my body that says, "Hey, you, time to think about putting some fuel inside here" versus the frequent focus on food (especially sweets) that I had before. Life is just much calmer without sugar.
