Finished the 2nd of 3 5Ks this morning that are chipped timed instead of me relying on Runkeeper for run times. My legs weren't fully recovered from last Sunday's 5K and Tuesday's softball game and my lower back was still hurting from last week's softball injury. Didn't help that the temperature this morning was only 33F, my right ankle was hurting for some reason, and that I had to shovel snow as well before going to the race.
Got to the starting line with the hope of just finishing and not caring about the time. Started off slow because the pack was moving slow and I was trying to go around the slower people. Once there was more space, I got into my stride. There were some hills but not as bad and not as many as last Sunday's run. I had a hard time breathing partly because it was cold but I guess part of it was also because I tried pushing myself contrary to what I was going to do with not caring about my time and just finishing. My lower back was really giving me fits after 2 miles but did not want to walk the rest of the way and just kind of blanked out my mind which is fairly easy to do at my age! :-)
Final time, 31:45 for an average pace of 10:14 a mile and a new personal record.
The third and final race of the year is in 2.5 weeks.
