I haven't checked the scale since Wednesday morning and I'm sure it'll tell me that I've gained some weight back. I had a lot of people not show up for Thanksgiving, for one reason or another, and that left my husband and me with a ton of leftovers. On top of that, I went to a high school reunion (more food, but chose the vege dish and substituted the chips for sweet potato fries) and friends, whom we haven't seen for a year and a half, stopped in to have "brunch". You talk about a lot of heavy food! I don't believe in letting food go to waste, but this is honestly too much! I've been eating leftovers for the last few days and these foods are honestly making me feel tired, somewhat depressed, bloated, and they're causing my acid reflux to come back.
I suggested having my parents over for dinner yesterday, since their Thanksgiving plans were ruined and they ended up eating haggis. My husband didn't like that idea. So, I talked him into making me a turkey salad last night (extra greens). He was going to have more leftovers, but decided to have salad, instead. Now, our salad tastes are different. He likes a salad with more "substance" and I like it with more lettuce. He can't handle lettuce because of his IBS. He threw in a small bit of lettuce, some cucumber, some cherry tomatoes, apple slices, and a lot of turkey and stuffing. Needless to say, I didn't feel well after that meal, either. Then, he made a heavy breakfast while I was still in bed...english muffin, egg, and corned beef hash. It's no wonder his blood pressure is through the roof! I've never had high blood pressure, but this year, my systolic number is a bit high. I really think I ought to take over the kitchen. Problem is, I never get there fast enough.
Anyhoo...I need to get back on track NOW. I felt so good and so energized during the first week, and now that I've eaten all this junk, I'm feeling miserable. With my particular diet, I just ate all my meat and carb allowances for the day in ONE meal. I'm going to have to get creative with the rest of the day's meals, because it's all fruits and veges and dairy from here.
