The batteries in our scale died yesterday.

They've been flashing "Lo" for weeks but I would ignore it because if I just waited it out, it would eventually reset to zero. But alas, yesterday it would not say anything other than "Lo." So today, in the 84 degree Australian heat of a thousand suns, I pushed a stroller 1.2 miles to the hardware store.

Just to find out they were out of (2032 - the type I needed) batteries.

Sigh.

And then they informed that that 2032 batteries are available at the freaking grocery store.

Here I am thinking that these round flat batteries are special, but no, they're available everywhere.

So I walked another half mile to the grocery store with the stroller. And then walked home.

I spent about fifteen minutes fighting the scale to get the old batteries out. Then I made the mistake of stepping on the scale once I got the new batteries in.

If you weigh yourself at 3 pm after you have been eating all day, you WILL NOT like what the scale says. It WILL say that you weigh 4 lbs more than what you last weighed in at despite the fact that it's only been two days.

Moral of the story - don't weigh in in the middle of the day just cos you wanna test your new batteries.
