So many of you may have seen that I spend time and energy to 'like' every quick update that comes along. Do I want to run for prom queen or something? Am I lonely and need to like status updates to feel like I have friends? Am I a social media addict?

I like to think I'm not lonely. I don't feel lonely at least. Ionly check up on my social media because as a journalist and writer, I feel obligated to. And prom queen? Well, I'm from the Netherlands, we don't have prom, so no queen, no corsages, no asking or be asked or going stag.

So why do I like so many quick updates?

I think I spend almost 20 mintes a day on the DietBet forum. Most of the time is spent scrolling down and liking the quick updates. I do this with a conviction: that every time someone updates, even if it is to say: 'Well, I've only walked 0.1 km today.' I think it deserves to be acknowledged. Because the weigh-ins -though I think it's awesome if you studiously update you weight loss/gain every week- speak to me less than the effort of walking, running, eating healthy, swimming or exercising.

The scales played tricks on me this week, jumping between 72 and 74 within minutes (I was standing still!), so I thought to myself: "I can't really trust them, but I can trust other evidence of how hard I worked -or how hard I failed at working- this week."

So that's why I take the time to like each and every quick update I can find. I think your update is cool! It shows your devotion to your goal, this group; it shows you can handle it if you've had a setback; it's shows you have strength and you don't mind sharing that strength with others to be inspired by it.
So big thumbs up! Keep it up!

PS: I'm not alone! jmu612 also 'likes' a lot. Don't know about her reasons, of course, but I like her liking. :)
