Weekends can be challenging! Eating out, social events, unstructured time - all of these present challenges. Here are some tips:
- Use some of your time to make sure you relax and rejuvinate!Do something nice for yourself.
- If going to a restaurant, a lot of menus are online. Decide ahead of time what you will order. It is MUCH harder to make decisions “in the moment” - if you have a plan going in, you are much more likely to stick to it.
- Even if you can’t see the menu, decide ahead of time what you want out of the meal. Are you going to have wine, a cocktail or perhaps steer away from that and have sparkling water in a wine glass with lemon? Are you going to have an appetizer and if so, what kind? A salad? Or are you going to “indulge?” Dessert? What kind of dinner do you want? Think all this through ahead of time and make decisions – it can work, especially if you don’t have alcohol, which tends to make those good choices fly out the window! I use this strategy ALL the time.
- Use the board! Post your challenge or your plan and report back how you did! Then you feel EXTRA accountable. That is what the group is for – use us!
- Going to a party? Eat something healthy before you go. Whatever you do, don’t arrive starving - that is typically a recipe for disaster.
- Pick out some healthy recipes that look very appealing - be adventurous!
- Get your grocery shopping done - lots of fruits, veggies, etc.
- Prep meals for the week if you can – soups, casseroles…
- Get in extra exercise – you will feel better for it and it will re-charge your body and mind.
