When I first moved countries, I genuinely thought the weight would drop off me easy as pie.
I was moving from a country where I was very settled, eating take-away and junk food almost every day and my only form of exercise was power walking to my classes because I'm always late.
So when I moved, I knew there would be a massive culture shock. I knew that I wouldn't be able to get chinese, or pizza, or chippys, or even just my go-to junk food.
For this reason, I thought I would lose weight and come home a glowing US size 6!
In fairness, for the first few weeks, the upheaval in my diet did shock my body. I probably lost around 6/7lbs in the first month from this alone. However, my body adjusted so quickly and it has taken me this long to realise. I am now on month seven believe it or not.
Now, I don't eat those kinds of foods (because they aren't here) however I have found junk food that I like to snack on (some chocolate/cookies). Even at that, I don't eat an *excessive* amount, especially compared to what I would have eaten last year.
My body adjusted so quickly to eating a mainly vegetable based diet that the weight-loss just... stopped. This is the problem I've always had with weight-loss but never had any sort of definitive proof, and here it is.
I have an extremely slow metabolism.
Now I have committed to exercising 3-4 times a week and I'm going to be much more conscious of my snacking between meals (mainly because I have no money to buy snacks!) and this experiment will hopefully give me the answers I've been looking for.
My fear tells me that in order to ever be a US size 6, I'll basically have to live in the gym for the rest of my life. Fab.
