The Challenge I signed up for began Monday January 5th, but today is day one for me. I am following Chris Powell's turbo carb cycling program. I started out the week having a hard time committing to my diet and exercise plan.
Monday started out well eating wise, but then I got news that I became an aunty and went to the hospital after work to meet my new nephew instead of going to the gym. I was okay with that part, but not okay with the Mucho Burrito we had on the way there. Completely off plan.
Tuesday was turned upside down when one of the sales reps I deal with at work showed up to take me out to lunch. I chose a buffet place and ate low carb and from the salad bar. And topped it off with the biggest slice of cheesecake ever. I made a lame excuse not to go to the gym.
By Wednesday I had pretty much reverted to eating "bad" carbs at every meal and was kicking myself for not being motivated enough to go to the gym.
Thursday I ate well and had a chocolate & cookie binge in the afternoon. And I made a lame excuse for missing the gym.
Wake up today. It is friday and already day 5 of my challenge. I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and put some effort in. I started with a healthy breakfast of greek yogurt, sliced strawberries & hemp seeds. Then I had my brother in law help me move my treadmill out of storage and back into the basement living room to set it up. I plugged in my computer and watched an entire 90 minute episode of Extreme Weight Loss while walking at 2.7 mph. I just finished about 20 minutes ago and I feel great. With my extra weight my feet and knees sure do feel worn out but I'm happy I did it. Today was supposed to be a low carb day but I had some healthy left over healthy chicken taco casserole and ate a portion of that for lunch, and followed it with some water.
I wasn't sure I was ever going to feel like starting this journey. In the last year i've battled binge eating by attending work shops & seeing a psychiatrist. I wake up tired most days and I punish myself for any slip-ups in life by eating and avoiding exercise. I like to drink beer and wine every weekend. I've gained 60 lbs in just over a year, which is insane to say the least.
I feel great about today. I will follow up my work out by making the rest of this day a healthy one and getting all of my water in.
