I have a question! How come I lost 8.8 lbs, but ... look the same? I want to see a change. My grandson and I walk 2 miles every evening. We walk comfortable to the one mile out and pick up the pace on the way back. I am tired, and sweating when we are done. In addition I do a lot of yard work. I do not have the money to go to a gym. My income is very limited. This is a luxry for me, lol. But also something I am doing for me.

Sign in to Commentyou don't need to go to the gym to lose weight/exercise.....walking is great you can always look up videos on youtube and do them at home. there's ton of movements that only require your body. so keep up the good work and you\'ll start to see results.
It takes 4 weeks for you to see your body changing; it takes 8 weeks for your friends and family; it takes 12 weeks for the rest of the world.
Maria,
LOL, just trying to keep up with two of my grandchildren! We have that gym also, but it is 35 miles from my home which adds to the cost. I have been out of work now for nearly two years, and my savings is gone. After I wrote the blog, I looked for exercise sites and found one that I am trying out. It included finding my target heart rate for each zone, or level of ability. It also recommended that I start out walking, and push myself until I get out of the lowest zone. My legs and belly muscles are tender today! Last month the only thing I changed was what I ate. This month I am keeping the food log, and adding walking every other day. I have so much to lose!
Thank you very much for your feedback, it lets me know someone is out there working with me!

One of the gyms near here is $10/month and usually run no or $10 sign up fees if that would potentially be feasible if you really feel the need to go to a gym...and I've lost the about the same this month. I am noticing (after nearly 40 lbs of loss) that my face is a bit thinner, but I have found that I just feel better (heck lug a 10 lb bag of potatoes around and see how much better you feel when you drop it ;), what can you do now that wasn't happening a month ago? How do you feel?

I lost almost the same amount you did, and while I don't see a change in my pics, I feel it in my clothes. They feel just the tiniest bit looser and my latest set of "bigger pants" (I keep having to spend money on bigger clothes!) is definitely not so tight anymore. I also just feel "lighter", if that makes any sense. :) When I've gone through weight losses before, I know there are certain levels that make all the difference. You'll get there!
Definitely take your measurements! But know that when you don't SEE the results outwardly it just means your body is changing on the inside! Keep going. You will push through this plateau!

Measure! As someone already said... measurements are key. Also, trust that the change will happen and keep in mind that although looking a particular way will be great it is only a side effect of a much better goal: to be healthy, to live longer, to be happier. You'll get there. I promise.

Take measurements! It is hard to see progress in pictures after only a month. Measurements are much easier to see. Don't give up!
