YOOOOOO GUYS. If you haven't used a personal trainer at Planet Fitness - no wait, AT ALL (IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GYM YOU GO TO OR DON'T GO TO) - you NEED to check one out. I went to see a personal trainer for the very first time today and I just ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. He was so nice and explained why we need to do things how we do things and what happens to the body when you work out and then he showed me which machines to use and why. It was so fantastic and I loved my experience so much I highly recommend it for everyone. He liked how consistent I was being in my workouts already and he decided against changing it too much because of my consistency. Here's what my routine is going to look like for the next month:
Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday
-Warm-up (biking) for 5 mins.
-Cardio (running) for 30 mins.
-Ab circuit, max of 3 sets 10-15 reps each set.
The reason we focus on abs instead of legs or arms is because a strong core is essential for running, which is my main goal. Of course, if I want to throw in some squats, I can. But the main focus is building a strong core.
Monday, Wednesday
-Warm-up (biking) 5 mins.
-Hit ALL THE CARDIO MACHINES for 3-10 minutes each.
-Optional ab circuit. (Same as Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday circuit).
The reason I'm hitting all the Cardio machines is because it will help me build my endurance, which is my main goal. If I'm tired from running on the treadmill, it'll train me to keep on keeping on despite what my mind thinks.
So I guess it's a good thing I enjoy cardio! I had an amazing workout today, and I'm feeling so good right now. I'm excited to start working on my abs now that I know how to use the machines (which he showed off for me). I talked to him about how I'm steadily gaining weight and he told me to stay away from the scale for the first 1-2 months of working out. He told me that essentially what my body is doing is that it is builiding muscle, replacing the fat that was there - which is the hunch I was on. I'm losing inches, but gaining weight. He said that if I do want to measure my progress, to take measurements in the beginnning instead. Monthly checkups to redesign my program with him was what was recommended from him, since I don't want to get in a rut and get bored with my workout. So, I guess I'll focus on building my booty later, a strong core is #1 right now.
Keep it coming guys! 9 more days! I believe in all of you!
